Come get your hands dirty and learn to grow year-round!

Our garden workshop series is a new project in partnership with farm and garden educator Clare Riesman. Designed for home gardeners, we’ll be covering the basics of seasonal growing, from seed starting and crop planning to gopher control and seed saving. Join us in the garden!

Want to get your garden ready for planting but not sure where to start? Curious to learn more about how you can take better care of your soil? In this hands-on workshop, we will dig deep into the topic of garden soil and what you can do to prepare your garden beds for successful growing this season. During the workshop, we will:

🌱Cover fundamentals of what makes a soil healthy

🔎Look at your garden soil more deeply and get to know it better

💪 Learn what you can do to improve your soil health

⚖️Talk through pros and cons of different bed prep tools

🍅 Demonstrate proper cultivation techniques for maintaining a healthy soil that supports thriving plants

Participants will leave with all they need to know to get their garden beds ready for growing successful plants this season and beyond!

Clare Riesman

Clare Riesman is a farm and garden educator based in Sonoma County who has been working and teaching in the field of sustainable agriculture for 15 years. She has taught at UC Santa Cruz, the Chicago Botanic Garden, and Santa Rosa Junior College Shone Farm and has led workshops for CAFF, UC Cooperative Extension, EcoFarm, and more. She is a graduate of UCSC’s Environmental Studies program and their Apprenticeship in Ecological Horticulture. She is passionate about helping people connect with land and plants through educational experiences that feed their curiosity and empower them to be responsible and successful stewards of the earth.
